The East Anaheim Street Business Alliance (EASBA), one of Long Beach’s dynamic Business Improvement Districts, representing nearly 400 businesses, has announced that its third annual “Discover Zaferia” Treasure Hunt event will take place on Saturday, May 2 at 9:00AM.

“The Zaferia District has a lot to offer and is largely unknown in our great city,” stated Rod Wilson, EASBA President. “As we prepare for our 3rd annual event, this will be an excellent opportunity to introduce people to all the hidden gems within our historic Business Corridor.”

Some of those hidden gems, not including the already famous Joe Jost’s and Long Beach Playhouse, include Callaloo Caribbean Kitchen, Planet Books, Long Beach Fish Grill, Star Tek Cell Phone Repair, May’s Thai Kitchen, Urban Americana and Mar MelI Inn, all businesses Wilson mentioned were get places to shop, eat, get some work done or use for a night out on the town.

zaferia1Registered participants will walk the District along East Anaheim St. between Junipero Ave. and Pacific Coast Hwy. looking for answers to clues they receive at the start. Treasure hunters will get to experience historic East Long Beach and a diverse range of businesses that perhaps they never would have set foot in, had it not been for this local incentive. Prizes and answers, as well as raffle tickets, from participating businesses will up for grabs along the route.

EASBA’s mission is to provide a unified voice for local businesses, while creating a more energetic community and prosperous economy for the current residents of the historic Zaferia Corridor of Long Beach.

Wilson says that the feedback from past events has been overwhelmingly positive, with locals asking, “Why didn’t we do this sooner?”

“Each year so many people who come out to the Business Improvement District for the first time learn about new businesses they did not even know existed before[...]”

He continued, “[...] the community grows and comes closer together all sharing a common vision and bond, that Long Beach is a great city that we all have so much pride in and we all take great joy in sharing together. As we like to say, ‘Come on out and discover your new favorite __________, it exists right here in Long Beach.’”

zaferia2For a $5 registration, participants will receive an event t-shirt, lunch and, at the conclusion of the event, several chances to win prizes valued at over $5,000.
