“The Courage to Remember” Holocaust exhibit at Broward Main Library

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Commissioner Dale V.C. Holness joined holocaust survivors in a ribbon cutting ceremony to open “The Courage to Remember” exhibit at the Broward County Main Library.  Commissioner Holness is responsible for bringing the powerful exhibit to the library.

“We have to have the courage to remember and the courage to stand up today when we see injustice,” said Commissioner Holness.  “We need to insure that the world is educated to the evil that occurred during these years.  There were so many who didn’t stand up.  We saw how extensive it got. It went unchecked.”

“The Courage to Remember” exhibit is being presented by the Simon Wiesenthal Center, SNCF -Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français (SNCF) – The French National Railway Corporation and the Foundation For California.

“I want to thank Commissioner Holness for co-sponsoring this exhibit and finding us this venue.  This exhibit has been all around the world, shown throughout six continents and twenty countries,” said Ted Gover, Executive Director, Foundation for California.

The exhibit features more than 200 exclusive photographs that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world, offering amazing insight into the Holocaust through four distinct themes: Nazi Germany, 1933-1938; Moving Toward the “Final Solution,” 1939-1941; Annihilation in Nazi-occupied Europe, 1941-1945; and Liberation, Building New Lives.  “The Courage to Remember” traveling exhibit first opened in 1988, and to date, has been seen by millions of people in 1988, and to date has been seen by millions of people in several countries, among them the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, France, Great Britain, Austria, Brussels, India, Thailand, Russia, Kenya, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, and Singapore.

“The Courage to Remember” Holocaust exhibit will be on display through January 8, 2015 during main library hours.  The main library is located at 100 S. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301.
